I think your ideas are good justastupidman, if a little ambitious.Ĭurrently, if going by the new (awesome) King models, we have the 5 "regions" of Europe, Middle-East, Asia, Africa and the Americas. The American civs demonstrate that it is possible.Īnd, finally, the Byzantine monastery should definitely be changed from a mosque to a church (Byzantine architecture). a Buddhist monk for Mongols and Koreans,.an orthodox Christian monk for Byzantines, Ethiopians and Slavs,.an imam (already exists since AoC as a hero) for the predominantly Muslim civs (Saracens, Turks, Persians, Berbers, Malians),.Is there any progress on this? Have you dropped this plan entirely? Originally posted by justastupidman:More than a year has passed, even more civs have been added, and yet only the American civs have their own monk model. The new Slavic Civs could have an Orthodox Priest as their monk. Wouldn't it be cool if the Asian Civs had a more appropriate model for their monk, like a Buddhist Lama or a Taoist Scholar. While we're at it, we could extend this idea to the other building sets as well. If the Meso-American Civilizations already have their own custom Monk model, I don't see why the Middle-Eastern Civs shouldn't have one (especially when there is already a sprite that could be used).
I understand that AoE2 fans have an extreme aversion to change, but I think that this might be something that would be better accepted by the community - because the Meso-American Civilizations already have their own custom Monk model. I think it would be more appropriate that these Civs have an Imam to represent their "monk" unit. What I mean is, I think it would be cool if the "Imam" sprite could replace the Monk (keeping all the Monk's stats, even the name) for Civilizations with the Middle-Eastern building set. The moment I saw the new hero models for "Imam" and "Chand Bhai", I thought it would be awsome if they were incorperated into the actual game. I love all these new sprites and models from the update!
